List of Phones Getting Windows 10
Although late, but finally Windows 10 Mobile is here. There are 18 phones that will get the free upgrade:
Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, and MCJ Madosma Q501. Make sure you have one of those Windows Phone to get the upgrade for Windows 10 Mobile.
If your Windows Phone is not on the list, then the only way to get Windows 10 Mobile is to buy a Windows Phone that ships with Windows 10 Mobile out of the box. They are: Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, Lumia 650, Lumia 550, Xiaomi Mi4, or Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL.
How to upgrade windows phone to windows 10
Say you have one of those WIndows Phone that supports Windows 10 Mobile and your recent OS is Windows 8.1. You can upgrade to Windows 10, here’s how to do it:
First,make sure your battery level is over 50% so it will not run out of battery while installing the upgrade. A Wi-Fi connection is recommended because you will download a pretty huge load of update, so need a stable and fast internet connection. Just to be safe, backup your system and data before you run the upgrade.
Now, download and install Windows 10 Advisor App, it’s free on Windows Store. Windows 10 Advisor App will check for the upgrade availability and then prepare your phone to install the update. If your Windows Phone is eligible for Windows 10 upgrade, you can select “Enable Windows 10 Upgrade.”
The upgrade can take an hour or more to complete; you won’t be able to use your phone during the installation, and your device will restart a few times. Don’t be panic if your phone is still unresponsive after the upgrade is completed, it might take some extra time for your phone to migrate data and apps.
You might want to check the Windows Store to check whether there is an updates for the apps you installed. You should also download and install any updates that are available by navigating to the All Apps list, selecting Settings, choosing Update & security, tapping Phone update, and selecting Check for updates. You will find out some new features after the upgrade, such as: new Start screen, an improved Cortana personal assistant, better Live tiles, wider app support, Windows Hello, and Continuum.
